Jackson, Junhao and Delvin scores in gutsy win
Hougang (Delayed news) - Delvin built on to his growing reputation with two well-taken goals to lead Myjia to victory over Hou Gang on Saturday.

The match was delayed by almost an hour as torrential rain swept into the north eastern part of Singapore before the players deemed the conditions playable having almost called off the match.

Lugging out in their heavily-drenched jerseys, Myjia fell behind to an early goal from a defence splitting pass by the admirable Jerry from Hou Gang. Playing for the first time in a waterlogged pitch, Myjia found it hard to play their passing game with the balls constantly getting stuck in puddles. The match was 38 minutes old when the Korean referee had to cancel the match after the higher management feared for the condition of the field. By this time, Myjia were lost in no man's land having been unable to find a way past the resolute Gang defending. Both teams trodded out of the field and after a lengthy discussion with the groundsman, the referee blew the whistle for the match to be resumed.

At the restart, the momentum set by Hou Gang was clearly disrupted by the match interuption. The team failed to penetrate with purpose as they had done before the break and were soon undone by a brilliant strike from just inside the box by Junhao. Minutes before the halftime whistle, Junhao turned supplier with an accurate through ball for Jackson to thump the ball past the keeper to give Myjia a 2 -1 lead. The goal was Jackson's second of the season but one which he will remember for a long time to come given the beauty of the goal.

Hou Gang began the second half with intent. A through ball was threaded through the Myjia defence three minutes after the restart only for ailing midfielder Weimin to needlessly concede a penalty. Hou Gang's Ian dispatched the penalty confidently. 2-2 to Hou Gang.

The tide was in Hou Gang's favour after the penalty and the scoreline soon read 3-2 to Hou Gang. Morale was draining away from Myjia players on the mudbath field until Junhao conjured up a piece of magic fifteen minutes from time to level the score at 3-3. Time and again Junhao produced something out of nothing and this time round, without any hint of danger, the Hou Gang keeper was beaten by a lob from over 30 metres out. Brilliant stuff from Junhao.

The goal effectively took the fight out of Hou Gang. Myjia were in supreme control for the last ten minutes of the match and Delvin took the opportunity to grab a double to bring his season tally to three. The second goal from Delvin was especially worth mentioning as Ebenzer pushed a ball for Gordon to chase and finally after 11 years,6 months and 276 days of waiting, the former Arrows defender produced an assist which Delvin finished off with aplomb.

The final score read 5-3 for Myjia as the team pulled off another amazing comeback after the setback of the previous match.

Editor's note: "It was brilliant watching Delvin notch the winner for Myjia and more so watching the guys celebrate the late goals together. I seriously think we should all celebrate the goals together for a bit more fun and better still if we can celebrate with the supporters as suggested by Grodo. (minus the arse showing). And, it was way funny to see Gordon passing to Delvin to score. Unbelievable. =P
