Yishun-Myjia responded well to the critics last saturday by beating the likes of Yishun Wanderers 7-1 even though the pitch was not of the best conditions.
Despite missing a few players for the match, myjia took an early lead when a long ball was played to Myjia top scorer Junhao who made a nerve splitting run through the defence of Yishun Wanderers before finding himself in a 1 on 1 situation with the goalkeeper. The goal enable Myjia to keep up the momemtum of the game and keep a large amount of possession.
A couple of minutes later, a few neat passes between Myjia players sets Junhao free from the lack of pace Yishun Wanderers defenders to notch up the second goal of the game. Loan signing from Hou Gang Lee and Ian were then introduced to increased the stablibity of Myjia defences. The two debutant fullbacks, keep Yishun Wanderers wingers quiet throughout the game not allowing them to penetrate through Myjia defences.
After a couple of attack from Yishun Wanderers, Myjia hit back with a quick counter attack. Kenneth's thru ball sets Junhao up again but the striker unselfishly sets youngster Wilson up to tap the ball into the empty net which was his third goal of the season.
With a three goal lead, Myjia player manager Vincent opt for a more adventurous formation changing from a 4-4-2 to a 3-4-3 which allow the Yishun Wanderers to have more time and space on the ball. The change of formation allowed Yishun Wanderers to penetrate thru Myjia defence with a neat chip over the defence and a tricky shot pass Raymond to deny Myjia from completing a clean sheet.
Immediately after conceding a goal, Myjia manager revert the formation back to 4-4-2. The formation allow the midfielders to have the freedom to attack as the back four has establish a strong understanding and stability. Myjia youngster Delvin than won the ball back from the opponent and played a neat one-two with kenneth which saw him breaking free from his marker. He then played a tricky cross which most keeper have hard time dealing in the wet condition in to the six yard box. The ball was the saved by the keeper but due to the wet condition, the ball slipped out of the keeper hand and in to the net.
Soon the Yishun Wanderers got fed up by the patience Myjia players have displayed to break their defence. Rough tackles starts to get in to the play. The first victim of the rough tackle was on Myjia stopper Sunny when he was clearing the ball from the penalty area. Thanks goodness Sunny reaction off the ball was quick if not he will suffer more than just an abrasion on this shin. After that nasty challenge, Teenage defender Wilkin suffered a nerve racking challenge which he got away with no injuries.
After many rough tackles, Myjia starts to play neat touches soccer which saw kenneth breaking free from two tackles before taking a shot on goal but his party was spoiled when the keeper punch away the ball. Then, Junhao displayed a few dazzling tricks to dribble pass three defenders before setting up a easy tap in for Delvin which took his annual goal tally to 6 goals.
By half time, Myjia took a massive lead over Yishun Wanderers with the score of 5-1. After the managers half time team talk, Myjia were highly motivated by the scoreline.
Second half kicked off with a half way line effort from Sunny which made the opponent keeper not even needing to break a sweat to make the save as the ball went well wide. Myjia still continued to frustrate the opponent with the quick passing game but after Yishun Wanderers half time team talk, the start to display their resilience and tried hard to break Myjia stubborn defence.
However, Delvin use his pace well and beat his marker and squared the ball into the path of Junhao who tapped the ball in the empty net. The goal allow Junhao to score his first hat trick over a year.
Despite taking a massive lead, Myjia didnt not rest on their lead however they carried on and build on their lead trying to increase the scoreline. Myjia than tried to increase the lead with a beautiful setup when Sunny chip the ball to Eric who instead heading the ball, he dummied and letting teenage midfielder to make a overlapping run and making a cross to Wilkin whose shot was block by the keeper.
As the match continues, many rough tackles and physical play start to set in. Both sides starts to display many rough tackles and Sunny got booked for tripping the opponent. But however the referee controlled the match well to prevent fights.
In the 80th minute, Junhao added salt into the wounded Yishun Wanderers by making his tally to four goals. But however in the dying seconds of the game, Delvin failed to make his tally to seven goal when his shot hit the frame of the goal.
The match then ended with the scoreline of 7-1 which was a impressive scoreline right before new year eve and as they have a few players missing.
