Jurong West - Myjia FFC's request to be featured has so far been apparently ignored by The New Paper. The request was sent almost two weeks ago and the club is believed to be ready to submit another request in the coming weeks.
Meanwhile, reliable club sources are suggesting the present Myjia website may be undergoing a revamp in the near future. No further details are available.
In Myjia team news, the club hopes to welcome back striker Ronnie Low for their forthcoming match on 2 September. The lanky forward has missed the previous two games with personal commitments. Also, injured midfielder Kenneth Koh should be available for the next game as he seeks to recover from his bruised calf after the punishing encounter with Orange Fruitees.
Class sees Myjia maintain unbeaten run
8/20/06, Report by L. Weimin
Bendemeer - Myjia FFC showed their class to overcome an irritating Orange Fruitees 3 - 0 at Bendemeer to extend their unbeaten run to 9 matches,
Myjia led early into the game through top scorer Junhao who once again displayed his ruthlessness in front of goal. Breaking free on the right edge of the box, Junhao dispatched his shot with unerring accuracy in to the bottom left corner. 1-0 to Myjia with only ten minutes on the clock.
The goal allowed Myjia to settle down and our players were soon stroking the ball around charactersically. The Fruitees to their credit attempted to make a comeback with several promising attacks only to be let down by wayward finishing and some impressive shot-stopping by the evergreen Raymond.
Fruitee no. 6 was to make his mark in the game in the 26th min when he first elbowed rookie midfielder Ebenzer before roughing up to Delvin. The portly midfielder was promptly warned by the referee for unsporting behaviour. Myjia failed to capitalise on the unsettled Fruitee midfield despite a handful of opportunities and at halftime, Myjia held on to their slender lead.
Debutant Oliver Tey, signed from Arrows FC, made his entry midway through the first half began the second half brightly. The supporting striker showed good touches and a willingness to hassle the opposition defenders into mistakes. One such effort resulted in the second goal for Myjia in the 65th min. Vincent sent in a cross from the right which was comfortably controlled by a Fruitee defender but Oliver's hassling made sure the defender made a mess of the clearance. The clearance fell to an ever-improving Eric before he made an intelligent chested pass into the path of Wai Meng who launched a rocket past the startled goalkeeper. The midfielder celebrated his goal with a taunt right in front of Fruitee no. 6 who had carried on altercating with Myjia players despite being warned. The two goal cushion gave Myjia, previously under intense pressure, a much needed breathing space.
The 76th min saw left winger Jackson, impressing on the wings, go on one of his trademark mazy dribble until he was tackled by a defender. The ball bounced to Sunny who hit a speculative long shot that lobbed the goalkeeper and ended up in the net. The goal was Sunny's third of the season. 3-0 to Myjia but there was further drama. Oliver was lucky to be still on the pitch after an incredible off-the-ball incident. The new signing picked up the ball for a throw-in but threw the ball at the opposition instead. His actions earned him a yellow card but earned him smiles of approval from Myjia players and supporters alike.
The final score at Bendemeer read 3-0 to Myjia and based on the showing where Vincent had a freekick tipped over and the academy graduates like Wilson Tan, Wilkin Tan, Ebenzer Low and earlier signing Delvin progressing well on the learning curve, the future is bright for Myjia to extend their unbeaten run.
Myjia aims for The Newpaper
8/17/06, Report by L. Weimin
Jurong West - Myjia FFC have submitted an official request to be featured on The Newpaper.
Regular columnist Leong Wai Meng had chanced upon an article in The Newpaper requesting for weekend teams to be featured on 15th August. The enthusiastic writer soon hatched the idea for Myjia to be featured and he sees the chances as pretty optimistic.
"Myjia FFC is different from other teams in the sense that we are a team made up of our own family members. Very often you see teams made up of friends, but how often do you see a team of uncles, nephews, brother-in-laws, cousin's fiance all playing together in the same team?" opined Wai Meng.
The official request was emailed on 16th August and the website eagerly awaits the reply from The Newpaper.
