THE EDITION OF MYJIA ONLINE

Myjia heads for winter break

Yew Tee - Myjia heads into the winter break after the 7-2 thrashing of PUB Veterans. The season will resume on 9 December by which injured star striker Junhao should be back.

In the meantime, Ebenzer Low and Vincent Low will head to Malaysia to attend trials with Genting Amusement Parkers and Casino Royale of Genting respectively.

On the transfer front, Myjia are tipped to sign another player following the capture of Roy from free transfer. Hou Gang's Jerry is the rumoured transfer target and his arrival would add a touch of creativity in the Myjia midfield.

The frenzy of transfer activity in the Myjia camp has not been greeted with cheers from all front. An unnamed source lamented that the influx of foreign signings is threatening the existence of Myjia as a family club.

"The transfers are good from a sporting perspective but it means the family members will get lesser games and thus the idea of family bonding from soccer is diminishing. If more transfers are going to happen, Myjia will end up just like any other teams and everyone will be just another soccer khaki."

"It is great with the present group of signings but I'm really worried the above scenario may just happen for Myjia if more signings come in," quoted the source.

Wai Meng apologises at press conference

Boon Lay - Midfielder Leong Wai Meng has expressed his disappointment at his own loss of discipline in Myjia's recent 7-2 win over PUB Veterans. The midfielder clashed with a Veteran's player and almost came to blows before being restrained by team mates.

"I express regret and remorse over my actions during the last Myjia match," a visibly remorseful Wai Meng told the press. "Sometimes, when I play as a holding midfielder, it's just an unfortunate position where u have to tackle and protect your defenders. That's when a lot of trouble starts when the opposition sees this little b****** supposedly going in hard and rough," explained Wai Meng. "Nonetheless, I will just carry out my duties wherever the manager places me. I am just happy to be a part of the team."

The midfielder is currently undergoing fitness programmes with the fitness coach in a bid to capture his lost form.

Jackson double sinks PUB

Braddell - Myjia winger Jackson Seetoh capped his return to the side with two well-taken goals to lead Myjia to a 7-2 victory over PUB Veterans.

Myjia, playing without injured striker Junhao, fielded an unfamiliar strike pairing of Jackson and Ronnie and the pair justified the manager's selection with convincing performances. Despite falling behind early in the game, Myjia never let their heads down and were duly rewarded with a marauding run by Jackson right through the PUB water-tight defence. From a seemingly impossible angle, Jackson whipped in a curling shot from near the byline to level the score for Myjia at one apiece.

The scoreline read 2-1 in favour of Myjia soon after. Chasing a lost cause, Jackson's determination forced the PUB 'keeper into an embarassing blunder as he let slip an easy catch for the Myjia forward to slot in his second of the game.

Myjia continued to pour forward with Kenneth bombarding from midfield. Ten minutes before the halftime whistle, the energetic midfielder added to his season tally with a powerful shot which the 'keeper found too hot to handle. Kenneth was unlucky not to score again in the second half after his acrobatic bicycle kick from outside the box hit the post and then rebounded to safety.

The 3-1 lead by Myjia was almost marred by an incident in the 40th minute in which Wai Meng reacted furiously to a slap on the back of his head by the opponent. Both players had to be pulled apart and escaped a caution by the lenient referee.

Unsurprisingly after the unsavoury incident, Wai Meng did not march out with the rest of the squad at the beginning of the second half. The change in personnel did not affect the tempo of Myjia as debutant Roy stamped his class in midfield with longtime buddy Kenneth. Roy, who had been on trial at Myjia for two months, exchanged neat passes with Kenneth in midfield before the latter threaded a through pass for right winger Wilkin Tan to notch his second goal of the season.

PUB responded briefly with a goal of their own in the 63rd minute to put the scoreline at 4-2 but their attempted fightback proved futile. Goalscoring centreback Sunny restored Myjia's three goal cushion with a thunderous shot from way outside the box minutes later to shatter any dreams of a comeback for PUB. The goal was Sunny's fifth of the season.

It was 6-2 by the 70th minute, Wilson Tan latching on to an unselfish pass from Delvin to finish with aplomb. It was the first time the Tan twins have scored together in a same match. With the floodlights dimly liting the PUB field, Roy executed a perfect lob over the 'keeper and marked his debut with a glorious goal.

7-2 to Myjia at the full time whistle and the team heads for a winter break till 9 December to meet PUB Veterans again in the reverse fixture.
