JUNHAO'S HATTRICK, SUNNY'S STUNNER AND RONNIE'S WINNING GOAL HAND MYJIA A 5-3 VICTORY AGAINST WESTRO REBELS.
Queensway - Westro Rebels were handed a lesson on submitting to authority as they were ousted 5-3 by an impressive Myjia side.
The Rebels arrived at Queensway Secondary in a bouyant mood despite a reported 5-0 loss in their previous match. Myjia FFC were on the other hand reshuffling their tactics with news streaming in that left winger Jackson Seetoh will miss the match owing to personal commitments and chief striker Chia Junhao late arrival for the match.
An indeed fit and skilful Rebel side took to the field against Myjia, intent on inflicting a first defeat in four games for Myjia. Rebels defensive midfielder Hamid impressed early with his control of midfield as both sides sought to dominate the center zone.
Myjia launched several attacks up to the quarter hour mark but to no avail until the arrival of Junhao and a minor reshuffling of tactics began to give Myjia the upperhand.
Junhao almost immediately showed his class as he threatened down the left against a dodgy Rebels rightback. The next attack from Myjia would see Junhao open his account for Myjia with a looping header that dipped just below the crossbar to hand Myjia a one goal advantage.
Credits to Rebels for their continued good work and relentless energy. Somewhat against the run of play, Myjia increased their lead with another classic poacher's goal from Junhao.
Latching on to a through pass albeit to the left side of the penalty box, with minimal angle for a proper shot, the Myjia hotshot opted to lob the bouncing ball over the onrushing keeper to bring his season tally to 25 goals. 2-0 up for Myjia.
The Rebels were pushing to get back into the game with Myjia Reserves player Roy excelling in pulling the strings for Rebels in midfield.
There was to be no breakthrough though for Rebels against a Myjia rearguard ably marshalled by Sunny Rai and on loan player Aaron. The halftime scoreboard read 2-0 in favour of Myjia.
The signs were ominous with the skies threatening at the start of the second half. Myjia, as ever, has the habit of making a slow start for the second half, allowed Rebels to have a stranglehold of the match and deservingly, the Rebels scored their first goal through a penalty by Roy.
Myjia midfielder Leong Wai Meng raced into the penalty box with the intention of intercepting a promising surge down the left by a Rebel forward but could only end up with a clumsy tackle that gave the referee no hesitation in awarding the penalty.
2-1 the scoreline and the next piece of action will remain with Myjia centreback Sunny for a long time to come. The big defender who is renowned for his build and powerful shots, shaped himself for the restart and with unerring accuracy and power, blasted the ball into the net from the kickoff to give Myjia a two-goal cushion again at 3-1.
Rebels were momentarily stunned but soon regain their composure with Myjia still struggling to come back to terms with the pace of the match despite Sunny's wonder goal.
A speedy counter attack released a pacy Rebel down the right with pleas for offside ignored by the referee. Myjia young defender Ebenzer Low was tricked by a Rebel player jogging back from an offside position and the other Rebel forward took his chance with aplomb, blasting into the top corner which left Myjia keeper Raymond Tan with no chance.
Raymond had up to this point done a fantastic job to keep the Rebels attack at bay but he was helpless to prevent the Rebels from getting their equaliser soon after their second goal.
This time it was Sunny's turn to be the culprit when again, without intent, he clipped the legs of Roy from behind to hand Rebels their second penalty of the game. This time though, it was a former Myjia player KianHow who blasted his penalty past Raymond to level the game at 3-3.
More drama was to follow when an innocuous challenge from flying Myjia winger Delvin Ng left a Rebel defender with suspected knee ligament damage followed by a five minute stoppage for a chest injury to Myjia player Aaron after he blocked down a shot with his body.
By this time, the skies had opened and the heavy downpour made the pitch almost unplayable. Ironically, Myjia began to settle down with the difficult condition and had several chances from the corners awarded.
One of which indirectly led to Myjia taking a 4-3 lead on the 83rd minute. A Myjia corner was only half-cleared and it dropped to Wai Meng lurking outside the box. A rash tackle from KianHow provided Myjia with a freekick 25 yards out.
Regular freekick taker Wai Meng stood beside the ball and it seemed the Rebels wall were tricked when Junhao ran to take the freekick instead. The ball swirled over the wall and past the outstretched arms of the keeper for Junhao to complete his hat-trick and hand Myjia the lead.
Rebels were highly charged up for another equaliser and Myjia were holding on for their dear lead with Reserves player Yong Chun impressing at rightback.
The Rebels rebellion were finally ended with a Myjia counter attack in injury time. Energetic midfielder Kenneth Koh dribbled to the right flank and picked out in-form striker Ronnie Low with a sublime cross.
The lanky striker could do no wrong with his third goal in three games with a wonderful headed goal. That goal proved to be the winning goal and took all the steam out of a Westro Rebels rebellion.
5-3 the final scoreline and another dramatic match to add to the collection of memories for Myjia Family Football Club.

MYJIA FIGHT BACK TWICE TO FORCE 2-2 DRAW
Haig Rd - A youthful-looking Myjia side equalised twice on Saturday to force a 2-2 draw with Veeco United before the game was abandoned.
The match watched by a record low crowd of 2 Myjia fans was marred by events late in the game when the referee lost control of the game as the wild tackles came charging in. To be truthful, Veeco United were anything but dirty.
Veeco United, comprising mainly players from China, were on paper the favourites to win the match, what with the average height and build of the players way better than Myjia.
And so, Veeco duly obliged with good passing movement and pace throughout the opening half and hour as Myjia struggled to cope with the physique and pace of the opponents.
Following reliable reports that Veeco United had spied on Myjia players, it was not surprising to see striker Chia Junhao tightly marked.
Veeco United soon drew first blood just after the half hour mark. A through ball broke the Myjia defence, solidly marshalled by captain Vincent Low, allowed the pacy Chinese striker a one-on-one situation with Raymond. The shot was well parried by the Myjia keeper and the rebound fell to the other striker who made no mistake with his follow-up.
The goal was hotly contested by Myjia who argued that the second striker was in an offside position and video replays suggest that the Myjia players may have a point.
Seeing his defensive flanks struggling to cope with the Veeco wingers, Vincent Low made a tactical substitution replacing his son, Ebenzer Low with loanee Junhow and rightback Wilkin Tan was replaced by another loanee Kian An.
The two loanees stablised the defence and Myjia were eventually able to claw back into the game and mount its attack. One such attack resulted in a corner which was taken my midfielder Leong Wai Meng. Wai Meng's cross was floated into the near post, flicked by a towering jump from Sunny and in came Ronnie Low to launch a tricky first-time volley into the net between the defender and the diving keeper.
The goal was top drawer and showed the blossoming confidence of striker Ronnie Low. The goal was the lanky forward second goal in as many games since his nephew Ryan Low was drafted from the youth team into the senior team.
Veeco were visibly stunned by Myjia's comeback and possession were pretty even by the halftime whistle as both teams trooped in at one apiece.
Second half began in much the same manner as the first before a stunning piece of individual brilliance threatened to win the match for Veeco. Their veteran midfielder, Ji-Ge, won possession near the halfway line, took another touch before unleashing a rocket into the top corner for a contender for the goal of the season award.
Despite the goal, Myjia showed its mettle as they carried on their passing game and varied style of play. Wingers Jackson Seetoh and Delvin Ng were foraging into the opponents half but to no avail while Veeco were continously caught offside by the experience of Vincent Low.
The game looked to be heading for a 1-2 defeat for Myjia until Jackson looped a hopeful ball towards the Veeco penalty box. Junhao charged into the area leeched by the covering defender before he cleverly left the ball for an onrushing Wai Meng to burst into the penalty box.
Taking a first touch with his left foot, Wai Meng's second touch was to guide the ball past the rushing goalkeeper and into the net via the post for a dramatic Myjia equaliser! 2-2 and Myjia refused to be beaten!
Vincent Low began barking orders to play a more defensive game after the equaliser with 15 minutes left. The game though failed to finish with 10 minutes remaining as young import Delvin Ng, incensed by the relentless foul play and incompetent refereeing lashed out at a Veeco defender.
Mayhem threatened before both sides were pulled apart and ended the game best remembered for a brilliant display from Myjia against a tough opponent as well as Ronnie Low's goal which brought confidence to the Myjia team.
