Punggol - Days before the crunch tie against Everton Kids, Myjia FFC suffered several blows with news of players being unavailable for the fixture due to personal commitment.
However, despite having a much depleted squad, Myjia camp was determined to break the winless streak against Everton Kids as player/manager Vincent Low sent out the best starting eleven in which was possible with the much depleted squad.
Myjia started off the match brightly by closing down quickly on Everton Kids which denied them time and space to play their usual passing game. 10 minutes in to the match, Myjia got their reward for consistent effort to close down Everton Kids through attacking dynamo Chia Junhao who capitalised on an error by the Everton Kids' defence.
Minutes later, Myjia doubled their lead after a through-ball played by Jerry sent Junhao through on goal. Having rediscover his scoring touch, Junhao made no mistake and put the ball into the back of the net.
However, Myjia should have increased their lead further have several of Myjia players not squandered their opportunities. The misses and fatigue of Myjia then allowed Everton Kids to build momentum and they began to dominate the possession.
Constant attack down the flanks by the Everton Kids began stretch Myjia's defence and Everton Kids finally got a foot back into the match after winning a freekick at the edge of the area. A sweetly struck freekick found an Everton Kids striker who broke the offside trap and made no mistake to put the ball past keeper Raymond Tan.
During the closing stages of the first half, Everton Kids drew level after a clearance from a throw in fell to the feet of a Everton Kids midfielder who struck the ball close to perfection and send the ball past a fully stretch Raymond.
The second half was a one-sided affair as fatigue began to set in for Myjia which enabled Everton Kids to dominate most of the possession. Minutes after the restart, Everton Kids won a corner through another wingplay. This time, a superb delivery from the corner allowed their man to head the ball home. 3-2 was the scoreline as Everton Kids showed great resilience to fight back from two goals down.
On the hour mark, Everton Kids doubled their lead after a counterattack set their winger free from the defence. However the winger unselfishly crossed the ball to an approaching striker who took full advantage of the opportunity after a decision mistake to clear the ball instead of heading the ball away by youngster Ebenzer.
Everton Kids completed their superb comeback on the 75th minute with yet another attack down the flank. The goal was the icing on the cake as Everton Kids proved to strong for Myjia's depleted squad.
5-2 was the final score as Myjia winless streak against Everton Kids continue despite putting in a brave display.
