Choa Chu Kang - In last season fixture against FC Chinese Boys, Myjia was denied a victory. This season, having lost the opening fixture, Myjia was determined to win.
Myjia was still missing long term casualty Ng Yong Chun from the line-up having tore his knee meniscus last season which restricted him to only three appearance. Besides, veteran shot stopper Raymond Tan was also unavailable for the tie leaving Myjia with limited defensive options.
A match which had seen temperature rising in the previous tie, started off in favour of Myjia. In the opening minutes of the match, Eric Low had an opportunity to put Myjia ahead after rising above the defence to win a header. However the header missed the target by a fraction.
Myjia continued to press for an opening and got their reward. Speed demon Delvin Ng was adjudged to have been fouled in the penalty area after a surging run. Stopper Lucio stepped up and made to mistake to bury the ball into the back of the net.
1-0 to Myjia as they started off the match strongly. However, after taking the lead, Myjia faded letting FC Chinese Boys dominate.
On the half an hour mark, FC Chinese Boys drew level after powerful header from a corner which left stand-in goal keeper with no chance despite getting a fingertip on the ball.
1-1 was the scoreline as Myjia began to crumble. Within minutes from the equaliser, FC Chinese Boys took the lead. After a surging run down the left flank, FC Chinese Boys' winger provided a delicate cross which Jerry could only punch it clear. However the clearance fell to FC Chinese Boys' midfielder who beatifully took it first time. The superb shot left Jerry with no chance.
In the closing moment of the first half, FC Chinese Boys doubled their lead. This time a superb break down the left flank followed by a superb finish left Myjia trailing the game 3-1.
During the break, Vincent made a tactical reshuffle in attempt to spark a comeback. However, FC Chinese Boys began the second half where they left off in the first period. Waves and waves of attacks in attempt to put the match beyond the reach of Myjia was denied by Jerry.
On the hour mark, FC Chinese Boys got their reward for their persistence. Another surging run down the flank caught Myjia's fullback, allowing FC Chinese Boys through on goal. Composed finishing left Jerry with no chance.
Myjia then brought on Edwin Goh who made an immediate impact with a fine header only to be denied by the keeper. However, apart from the header, Myjia attacking play did not pose any threat to the opposition defence.
FC Chinese Boys onslaught of Myjia continued during the closing moments of the game as they fired twice to add more misery on Myjia poor start to the season.
6-1 was the final score as Myjia seeks to get their season rolling. Myjia failure to work as a unit was dreadfully exposed by FC Chinese Boys.
